Employee Profile
Joe Covarrubias, Howard’s TV and Appliance
Joe Covarrubias brings a
wealth of experience to his position
as Assistant Manager for DSI’s newest
client, Howard’s TV and Appliance.
Previously, Joe worked at Dearden’s
for 17 years, where he originally met
the Delivery Solutions’ management
team. After his lay-off at Dearden’s
due to the poor economy, Joe was
excited to take a position with DSI.
“The transition to my new job was smooth,” he says. “It was like coming home after a long vacation. After all, I’ve
worked closely with DSI since the company began, and already
knew the pioneers who founded the company.“
As Assistant Manager, Joe opens the warehouse at 6:00
AM, and monitors truck routes and schedules. He aides sales
people by managing deliveries, and is their “go to guy” when
issues arise. Furthermore, he makes it a point to follow through
and ensure resolution of all pending items. “My number one
priority is making sure the customer is happy,” he says.
“There’s no magic to providing good service,” he
confides. “The key to success is working hard to give the
customers what they want. This is the philosophy I will embrace
when I have an account of my own.”
Joe started his career as a warehouse manager
before becoming a truck driver. His background makes him
knowledgeable about many aspects of the business. “There
isn’t anything I can’t answer about appliances,” he says. He’s
also proud of having trained other drivers, some of whom later
became contract drivers with DSI.
Joe takes great pride in having earned the inaugural
Dearden’s Customer Service Award in 1998. Ronny Bensimon,
President of Dearden’s, described the winner by saying “the
word ‘no’ is not in his vocabulary.” Joe laughs, remembering the
event, “I looked around while everyone was applauding, but
not until my co-workers crowded around me did I realize that I
had won the honor of being the very first employee to win the
award.”
“It was something I will never forget.”
Joe’s manager, Elia Arias, Account Executive, says, “Joe
fit right in immediately. His knowledge and experience are a
great asset for DSI and Howard’s.”
Joe enjoys playing golf, but adds that his real passion
is riding in bike marathons. “I love the challenge, it’s great for
my health, and you can see so many things you can’t see from
a car.” Joe’s family includes his wife, and four grown children
ranging in age from 31 to 19. |
