Employee Profile
Lila Cuellar, Receptionist, Corporate Office

Officially, Lila Cuellar is the
receptionist at DSI’s corporate office.
Unofficially, Lila is a multi-talented
employee who has made it her mission
to cut costs, and perform a variety of
jobs that help keep the office running
smoothly. Her duties include: fielding
phone calls, assisting with accounting,
ordering and distributing supplies, filing, making copies,
coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, and preparing and
disseminating various other forms on request.
“I enjoy it all,” she says, “I’m used to juggling lots of things
at once. The more I’m asked to do, the better I like it.”
South Group Director Dave Drury attributed Lila’s recent
award as Employee of the Quarter to her can-do attitude.
Lila, who joined the company two years ago, brings thirty
years of office experience to her current position, including
twelve years in cost accounting with an aerospace company.
“No job is too big or too difficult for Lila,” says VP/GM Jim
Forman. “In a relatively short time, she has become an integral
and valuable member of the team, who truly has our company
welfare at the heart of everything she does. That’s no small
feat,” he adds.
Lila continues to expand her knowledge by taking
classes in a local community college. Recently she attended a
seminar titled, “Time Management and Organizational Skills
and The Exceptional Receptionist.”
“Catchy title,” she laughed, “and I actually learned a lot.”
“One of my personal goals is to include more accounting in
my job,” she says, “so I can be a greater asset to the company.
I hope more education will help in that regard.”
Other than the challenge of attending to simultaneous phone
calls, Lila assures The Dispatch that her workdays are really
fun, a tribute to the friendly atmosphere in the office. “We’re
always laughing,” she says, smiling even as she replies. “That
includes colleagues, sub-haulers and clients at other locations,
too,” she adds.
DSI is a family affair for Lila. Daughter Georgette Cuellar,
Account Executive at Sit ‘n Sleep, is an award winning DSI
employee. Lila’s grandson Alfred Jr. works at the Howard’s
location as a dispatcher.
On weekends she enjoys some solitude at her Montebello
home, but also relishes relaxing with Georgette, her three
grown sons and eight grandchildren. That’s when she’s not
scouting for “treasures” at yard sales, she confesses. “Whether
I find something or not, I always have fun.”
