Guachos Trucking, Inc. Julio and Joaquin Hernandez

Julio & Joaquin Hernandez
Julio Hernandez and his brother Joaquin own Guacho’s
Trucking, Inc. Currently they operate three trucks in northern
California: one at Sleep Train in Sacramento, and two at
Scandinavian Designs in San Jose/Cupertino and Berkeley/
Vacaville. The Dispatch spoke to Julio about the brothers’
operation.
Julio began in delivery services about ten years ago. “I started
out as an assistant for a contractor with another company,”
he says. He bought his first truck in 2002, and not long after,
started Guacho’s Trucking with Joaquin.
Guacho’s Trucking began hauling with DSI in 2005. “The
best part of our relationship with DSI is that everyone is so
willing to work with us and help us with our jobs,” Julio says.
“We look forward to working with DSI for a long time,” he
adds.
Minimizing the amount of re-routing during a delivery
run aides in reducing mechanical problems and fuel costs,
says Julio. “This helps us remain flexible to meet DSI, and
customer requirements.”
In addition to the rising truck costs, they have seen other
changes in the business, most notably in technology.
“We have much better communication with the warehouse
now,” he says. “We can adjust our routes quickly if a customer
cancels for instance, and that helps conserve fuel and saves us
time.”
Julio and Joaquin do “whatever it takes” to make certain that
the customer is always satisfied. Julio remembers one delivery
that necessitated hauling a mattress up and over a balcony of
the customer’s home. “Our goal is to keep the customer happy,”
he says, “or we can’t stay in business.”
Jonathan Arrendale, DSI Group Director, comments, “Guacho’s
Trucking is always ready to take on whatever deliveries are
required. Their attention to customer care contributes to the
success of the client as well as our company. It’s a good fit all
the way around.”
The Hernandez brothers live about thirty minutes away from
each other in Northern California. On their days off, they both
enjoy going to local parks, playing ball, and other activities that
center around their families.
