Client Profile

Bob Conway, Warehouse and Distribution Manager, Sleep America

Bob ConwayBob Conway brings more than ten years experience to his job as Warehouse and Distribution Manager for Sleep America, Phoenix. He says that since DSI joined the Sleep America family and began delivering in September, his “stress level has dropped significantly.”

“DSI’s staff is responsive to our needs. As the number of successful deliveries increases, so does our business. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

As Warehouse and Distribution Manager, Bob’s responsibilities include receiving merchandise, distribution to all retail stores, deliveries, and store maintenance and supplies. Conway and his seven supervisors oversee all 36 Sleep America stores, including a new location in Tucson. “We hope to open even more stores in the area this year,” he says.

Bob’s philosophy is to keep relationships open and honest. “Then we can resolve issues objectively, without hurting anyone’s feelings. Business can run smoothly, and our customers will be happy on every level, from purchase to setup in the home.”

The biggest impact on the operation, he says, involves recent changes in transportation codes for drivers as well as their rigs. For instance, diesel trucks now have a five minute limit on idling or they will be hit with a $300 fine. This has changed the way drivers deal with delays as well as routine deliveries.

Although he is still adjusting to the concept of outsourcing deliveries, Bob already looks forward to expanding with DSI as business increases. “DSI is part of our team. We include them in everything – even our weekly BBQ’s.”

Bob is a Phoenix native who admits to hating the heat. He said his family, especially his grown children, keep him from moving. “I enjoy being around them and I want to continue being a part of their lives.” As time and weather permits, he enjoys riding his motorcycle around the area, traveling into the mountains as far as Prescott. Enjoy the ride, Bob!
