Employee Profile
Maria Padilla, Corporate Office Manager
Maria
Padilla's business card reads "Office Manager," but that
only begins to describe her responsibilities. She also takes care
of most of the accounting for the company, and oversees Human Resources.
In addition, she "supports the field" by serving as secretary
and "girl Friday" to the managers and members of the executive
team who work from the corporate office. This includes acting as
receptionist, training new hires and processing their paperwork,
and serving as liaison for contractors.
"I've never seen anyone with Maria's ability to multi-task,"
says Vice President Jim Forman, "and at the same time be able
to stay calm and keep everything in perspective. She has been an
integral part of the company's growth."
Maria believes that DSI's policy of encouraging input has made
it easy to adapt to the changes that result from growth. "This
allowed me to implement some of my ideas to handle our expansion,
and that's really helped."
Maria's responsibilities entail working with both North and South
Groups. "Keeping a balance can be a challenge," she says.
"South Group employees can come to the office, but the North
Group team can't. I miss being able to see them and work with them
personally."
Since part of her job is making certain that DSI is in compliance
with all aspects of employment law, Maria's goal is to be fully
trained in HR herself. "I must be aware of changes in standards,
so that I can train managers, who will then be able to train their
staff. That way, we're all on the same page."
Maria lives in Downey with her husband and two sons. The Padilla's
will welcome a third child in September. "My family keeps me
busy after work," she laughs. |
