DSI Delivery Expands Into Seattle & Denver
From Dave’s Desk…
I am very excited to announce that DSI began operating in two new markets in the last
few months. This significant expansion is the direct result of our continuing and effective relationships with two major clients…Paul’s TV and Sleep Train.
Kent, Washington: In mid-April, DSI began delivering for Sleep Country USA in the greater Seattle area. Owned by Sleep Train, Sleep Country is the largest independent mattress retailer in the Northwest. DSI and its on-site management team headed by John Smith will supplement the existing insourced delivery operation, initially covering 25-30 routes per week. North Group senior managers Jonathan Arrendale and Carlos Guerrero will provide management support for the new operation. Independent haulers Piche’s Trucking and Mary Queen Deliveries [see Profile, pages 2-3] were instrumental in the start-up. Sleep Country’s Regional Operations Manager Kurt Helenius [see Profile, page 2] reports that DSI’s delivery teams achieved a 98.97% Customer Survey score during a recent week. Congratulations to the respective management and staff from Sleep Country USA and DSI Delivery for their contributions towards this successful opening.
Denver, Colorado: Our client Paul’s TV continued its national expansion plans by opening several stores in the Denver market on May 20th. Consistent with their strategy of working with established furniture retailers, Babak Ghaznavi and the Paul’s management team have partnered with Furniture Row, initially opening 6 showrooms featuring their unique product and service offerings. Several additional stores in the Colorado market are on the drawing board. DSI’s Group Director Dick Connole opened the operation with our new Denver-area manager, Joe Taylor. They worked closely with Paul’s corporate Director of Distribution, Marty Bilt and his Denver warehouse manager Mike Tripodi. Independent hauler Art Arias of Arias Delivery Service traveled to Denver from Southern California to conduct delivery team orientation. Initial reports from the Mile-High City are positive thanks to the combined efforts of the Paul’s and DSI teams.
